About the blog

Paddock stories, told straight.

Australian Cow started with a simple idea: rural Australia is full of great stories and hard-won know-how, but too much of it never makes it past the farm gate. This blog is our attempt to change that — one yarn, one guide, one cow at a time.

What we write about

Three things, mostly. Cattle — the breeds that thrive in Australian conditions, how they're raised, and what makes a good animal. Farm and station life — the real day-to-day of living and working on the land, from dairy country in Victoria to million-acre stations in the Top End. And rural living — the practical side of a life outside the big smoke, whether you run five thousand head or dream of a single house cow on a hobby block.

Who it's for

How we write

Plain English, no jargon left unexplained, and no pretending farming is either a postcard or a tragedy. It's a job, a lifestyle and — on the good days — the best way to live we know. When we cover practical topics we do our homework, but nothing here replaces advice from your local vet, agronomist or department of agriculture.
